Many museums now have websites of their own which might provide:

  • information about what they offer to schools
  • downloadable resources 
  • virtual access to a building or collections which otherwise might be inaccessible
  • research material for pupils.

It is worth checking whether the museum has a website and email.

Culture24 has special pages for teachers, which link to a diverse and extensive range of resources offered by the UK's museums and galleries.

Culture24 also has a special  zone for children. Designed for children aged 4 to 11, or KS1 and 2 in the English National Curriculum, the site is packed with online interactive resources produced by museums and galleries. There are sections for teachers and parents, weekly news stories, ideas and tips on extending children's interest in their heritage, an interactive UK museums map for kids and lots more.
