ICT
There are many ways in which ICT can be used in conjunction with museums.
- In preparation for a museum visit.
- During the visit and for follow-up work.
- Digital cameras, camcorders, videos, interactive whiteboards, PowerPoint presentations and
websites can be used to:
- provide resources for research
- present and create artwork during and after the visit.
- Websites can be used:
- as a celebration or documentation of a project
- to offer a virtual visit
- to prepare for a real visit or for research
- as a means of two way communication between the museum and the school
- for access to collections which may not be accessible otherwise.
- N.B., Be aware of Child Protection issues when putting any material on the Internet.
- Video conferencing can offer access to collections and expertise.

Reading Museum have a range of interactives which provide opportunities for children to apply and develop their ICT capability and use ICT tools to support their learning. Downloadable resources include topic webs to assist planning, classroom activities and worksheets.

South East Grid for Learning piloted Victorian Learning Journey. This project offered a series of learning events to support KS2 making use of videoconferencing, video clips and an interactive talk board.
