Every Child Matters

previous   next

The Government's aim is for every child, whatever their background or their circumstances, to have the support they need to:

  • be healthy
  • stay safe
  • enjoy and achieve
  • make a positive contribution
  • achieve economic well-being

When asked what they regard as their priorities, children and young people consistently reply that they would like more "things to do and places to go".

Museums can play a unique role in helping to deliver the Every Child Matters: Change for Children agenda, by:

  • helping to deliver the five outcomes, particularly enjoying and achieving and making a positive contribution
  • being involved as partners in children's trusts and contributing to Children and Young People's Plans
  • supporting families and promoting diversity
  • providing positive out-of-school activities for children and young people
