Making the Most of Museums

The museum visit has the power to jolt latent learning capacity into action; it works as a catalyst to spark curiosity; and the experience is so powerful that it can be recalled and reused for a long time afterwards.

We hope that this guide will offer teachers support and guidance in using museum services.

We also hope that it will inspire teachers to contact and work in partnership with museums in their local area and empower teachers to use museum collections to support and enhance their work in the classroom.

This guide links with Cracking Open Culture (Museums, Libraries and Archives South East) which encourages the development of partnerships between schools and museums.

This guide is still in development and we would welcome your feedback and comments. We would also welcome any examples of good practice which you have encountered when working with museum services in the South East of England.

The menu to the left can be used to navigate through the sections of the guide.

The menu to the right can be used throughout the guide to give us feedback, contribute ideas, and get help with terms used or how to use the guides.
