Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust

Our Heritage - Poster Campaign (Word DOC, 54Kb) is a series of small projects developed by The  Historic Dockyard, with the aim of involving Fairbridge clients in local history through a variety of innovative projects that meet their  specific needs and learning styles. The Fairbridge Trust offers young people: a combination of long-term personal support and challenging activities in 15 of the most disadvantaged areas across the UK. Their goal is to give young people the motivation, confidence and skills they need to change their own lives

Hampshire County Museums and Archives Service

Roman Rubbish (Word DOC, 82.5Kb). A student on an MA Museums and Galleries work placement from the University of Southampton acted as Project Leader, with the support of SEARCH staff, to further develop provision for adults with learning disabilities, in consultation with local providers.

Community Tree (Word DOC, 69Kb). A project linking Hampshire County Council Museums and Archives service with the Ethnic Minority Learning Disability Project. April 2006 - November 2006.

Casual Interpreter Demonstrators (Word DOC, 45.5Kb). How Hampshire County Museums Service increased their capacity to deliver sessions for schools by creating a team of trained casual staff who can work with schools at their local museums.

Making Links with ITT providers (Word DOC, 56KB). How Milestones Museum forged a link between museums and initial teacher training by providing museum based placements for teacher training students.

Early Years (SEARCH) (Word, DOC 107Kb). How SEARCH developed sessions and resources for pre-school children at SEARCH and in the local community - at Nursery schools, Gosport Discovery Centre and Gosport Gallery, and encouraged local pre-school providers to use SEARCH and to realise that museums generally welcome this age group and can be accessible to them.

Oxford University Museums

In a Different Light (Word DOC, 52 Kb) tells the story of how the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History opened for one evening in May 2005 and 2006. This enabled them to target an adult audience who might not otherwise visit and literally to show off the museum "in a different light". This event was part of Museum and Galleries Month and the European initiative La Nuit des Musees.

Wow! How? (Word DOC, 55.5 Kb) was a one-day drop-in science fair aimed at enthusing young people and their families about science. Twenty experiment stations, manned by student and staff volunteers, gave children and their parents a hands-on experience of some of the most wierd and wonderful aspects of science.

Community Education Officer (Word DOC, 48 Kb).  A Renaissance funded post which aims to bring in new audiences from the local community for the four Oxford University Museums.

PGCE Community Weeks (Word DOC, 47Kb). A week of activity designed to offer student teachers at Oxford Brookes University the opportunity to visit the Oxford University Museums and to increase their awareness of the potential of museums to support teachers in their work.  

Greeks on Tour (Word DOC, 61Kb). A creative project to take real Ancient Greek artefacts from the Ashmolean to the classroom. Children take part in a series of hands – on activities investigating the lives of the Ancient Greeks.

Family Friendly Fun (Word DOC, 69Kb). How Oxford University Museums (Pitt Rivers Museum and Oxford University Museum of Natural History) have worked in partnership to develop and deliver a range of collections based activities and events for families at the University Museums and at venues across the Oxford region for existing and new family audiences. 

Royal Pavilion, Libraries and Museums, Brighton and Hove

Resources for Independent Visits by Schools (Word DOC, 51Kb). Resources for Independent Visits by Schools is an ongoing project to provide support for schools wishing to use the museums and galleries, via online resources such as worksheets, online information files and a publication.

Continuing Professional Development for Teachers (Word DOC, 51Kb).  To provide CPD opportunities for teachers which will raise awareness of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton and Hove Museums and what they can offer to schools.

Chinese New Year (Word DOC, 56Kb). To work on a collaborative project with the Chinese Educational Development Project to provide an experience to enable visitors to the Museum to learn about Chinese culture and to celebrate Chinese New Year.
