Every Child Matters
From this page you can link to the Every Child Matters South East website which provides
information on the Every Child Matters: Change for Children Agenda, and how museums and archives
can understand and contribute to the Every Child Matters agenda.
Why do people in museums need to be aware of this?
All organisations involved with providing services to children - from hospitals and schools, to
police and voluntary groups – are being encouraged to find new ways of sharing information and
working together, in order to protect children and young people from harm and help them achieve
what they want in life.
Every Child Matters: Change for Children is a national approach to improving the quality of
life and well-being of all children and young people from birth to age 19.
The Government's aim is for every child, whatever their background or their circumstances, to
have the support they need to:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic wellbeing
Children and young people will also have far more say about issues that affect them as
individuals and collectively.
So museums need to be ready to contribute to the shared Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda.
The Every Child Matters website will open in a new window, close that window to return to this page.
