Emergency Response Units
As part of Renaissance South East Emergency Response Units (ERUs) have been set up to support over 260 Accredited / Registered museums across the region. These ERUs will provide museums with access to extra equipment and expertise when they need it most.
The units consist of a range of equipment, stored in small towable trailers, and teams involving more than 50 musuem staff and volunteers willing to help other museums facing an emergency that they cannot cope with alone. Between them these teams have expertise ranging from archaeology to zoology, costume to conservation.
Museums across the region have been invited to apply to benefit from this service. Help from the ERUs will be open to those museums with emergency plans, response kits and appropriate insurance already in place. Museums will also have to provide basic access and location information to be able to be eligible for the service.
